Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Ketan Set aged about 25, a resident of Sambalpur met with an accident near Jharsuguda at 8 pm on September 22. He was seriously injured in that road accident with head injury and brain hemorrhage . His family brought him from Burla to Bhubaneswar.
After a long ten days of treatment at a private hospital, neither he did regain consciousness nor was there any improvement in his health.
Finally, with little hope of survival with the help of some locals and social media, he was brought to Sum Hospital in State Capital. The treatment was started under the supervision of Neurologist Dr Suryaprakash Chowdhury. According to doctors, Ketan’s brain and face were severely affected and he was completely paralyzed and remaining in coma. Medical tests revealed that there was profuse bleeding inside the brain.
The left half of his face was completely destroyed with broken bones with one eye damaged. In the ventilator, doctors treated him with sophisticated system. Then in just three days, Ketan recovered and got a new life. Ketan’s brother Pinku Seth and other family members expressed their gratitude to Dr. Chowdhury “Although saving Ketan was difficult it was not impossible,” Dr Chowdhury responded. He thanked Dr. Iswar Behera and other doctors and health workers. Due to lack of funds, the treatment was free of cost under the State Government’s Biju Health Welfare Scheme.
