Dr. Jagannath Mohapatra, the former chairman of BMC passed away

Bhubaneswar: Dr. Jagannath Mohapatra, the former chairman of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84.

As per reports, Dr. Mohapatra had been battling health issues and had taken his last breath at his residence in the Shaheed Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.

Dr. Jagannath Mohapatra played a significant role in the establishment of BMC during his tenure as its chairman in 1997. He also served as the Vice President of the All India Mayors Association, contributing to the advancement of municipal governments across the country.

Prior to his foray into the political realm, Dr. Mohapatra dedicated himself to the medical profession, serving as a doctor in various hospitals, including the renowned Capital Hospital. He was also the founder of Jagannath Hospital, leaving a lasting impact on the healthcare sector.

Dr. Jagannath Mohapatra’s contributions to the development and welfare of the city will be remembered, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who had the opportunity to work with him.
