Double-Decker Buses Arrive in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Two double-decker buses reached Bhubaneswar. The said buses have been parked at the Gadakana depot late last night. Yesterday, the bus crossed the Andhra Pradesh border and reached Berhampur, where it was charged and brought to Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, five electric double-deckers buses left Maharashtra for Odisha on the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. Two buses left for Odisha on December 28, one on December 31 and two more buses left for Odisha on January 1.

This bus is said to be the first of its kind in India. Once it is connected to electricity, it can travel a distance of about 250 to 300 kilometers. The bus has 55 seats and its speed will be 45 kilometers per hour. This bus will operate in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Khordha, and Puri.

The first of its kind buses in Odisha will be used to ferry the guests during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, said sources adding that four more such electric double-decker buses will be brought to Odisha and will be introduced in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.

The front side of these buses has the Konark wheel symbol. Along with this, the bus also has a glimpse of Shrimandir, Dhauli Shanti Stupa and Cuttack Bali Yatra.
