Doctor Arrested for Bribe in Cuttack

Cuttack: A doctor from Cuttack’s Badamba CHC was arrested by the Vigilance Department for accepting a bribe of ₹2,000 in exchange for issuing a favourable post-mortem report.
Dr. Biswanath Adhek, a Surgery Specialist, was caught while receiving the second installment of the ₹5,000 bribe he had demanded from the complainant. The complainant alleged that Dr. Adhek promised to provide a favourable post-mortem report for his deceased son and assured the production of favourable evidence in court during the trial.
Earlier, the complainant had already given ₹2,000 as the first installment. The Vigilance officials recovered the second ₹2,000 from Dr. Adhek’s possession during the operation.
Simultaneous searches are currently being conducted at two locations linked to Dr. Adhek to investigate possible disproportionate assets. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigations are underway.
