Dharmagarh observes bandh,demands district status

Kalahandi: Members of the Kriyanushthan Committee called for a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh today in six blocks of Dharamgarh over demanding of district status.
Various organizations, political parties and individuals in the district also lent their support to the agitators. Meanwhile, adequate security measures have been taken by the district authorities to avoid any untoward incident.
With picketing starting early in the morning, normal life was disrupted in Dharmagarh, Junagarh, Koksara, Jaipatna, Golamunda and Kalampur blocks of the districts due to the bandh. Markets, business establishments, educational institutions and government offices downed their shutters in view of the bandh and vehicular movement was also adversely affected due to the shutdown as agiattirs burned tyres on the middle of the road and staged road blockade.
