DFO Nityananda Nayak placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance

Angul: The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nityananda Nayak has been placed under arrest by the Odisha Vigilance on Disproportionate Assets (DA) charges, said reports on Tuesday.
During on going searches, today a Farm House of Nityananda Nayak at Chhendipada, Angul of around Ac.1.50 dcml comprising an outhouse of 1432 sqft, another house around 314 sqft, a pond over Ac 0.40 dec land excavated at a cast of approx Rs 30 lakhs, two bore wells, one well, and plantation of hundreds of coconut, banana and mango trees has been unearthed.
According to reports, Nayak tried to conceal the details of this farmhouse from the Vigilance officials, however, during search at his Keonjhar Quarter, a diary narrating details of payments and expenditure in setting up the farmhouse was found by the search team.
Following this, another Vigilance team along with Technical members traced the location and is now conducting evaluation and assessment of the asset.
After searches and interrogation that spanned 2 days, Nityananda Nayak, OFS-1, DFO, KL Division, Keonjhar was found in possession of disproportionate assets( DA) beyond his known sources of income including 1 multi storeyed building with total area of 9000 sqft at Angul, 1 Farm house at Chhendipada, Angul, 115 valuable plots, gold 200 gms, cash Rs.10.25 Lakhs, deposits over Rs.50.38 Lakhs, 2 four wheelers etc, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No 6/2025 under PC Act has been registered. Nayak has been placed under arrest and will be forwarded to Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar today. Further detailed reports awaited.
