Cyclone Mocha forms over southeast Bay of Bengal; Heavy Rainfall Likely In These Dists of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: A Low-pressure formation over the area of Northwest Bay of Bengal, near the northern coasts of Odisha and West Bengal. This region also exhibits a cyclonic circulation that extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilts southwestwards with increasing height, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued an Orange Warning for several districts in Odisha, including Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Jharsuguda. These districts are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two locations.
Moreover, the Meteorological Centre has predicted that the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangapur, and Nuapada are likely to witness heavy rainfall at one or two places. For these districts, a Yellow Warning has been issued.
