Cuttack Constable Killed by Husband; Accused Attempts Suicide

Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly killed his wife in Cuttack district on Wednesday. The crime occurred within the Lalbag Police Station limits in Cuttack city. The victim, identified as Bishnupriya Mallick (30), was a constable at the Cyber Police Station in Cuttack.

The accused, Biswajit, is Bishnupriya’s husband. According to reports, the couple married in 2019 and had been living with their daughter in a rented house in Siddheshwar Sahi, Cuttack, for the past three years.

Preliminary investigations suggest ongoing marital discord between the two. On Wednesday, Biswajit allegedly attacked and killed Bishnupriya with a sharp weapon. Following the incident, he attempted to end his own life by slitting his throat.

Neighbors, alerted by the commotion, intervened and rushed Biswajit to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.

A heartbreaking detail emerged during the investigation – the couple’s five-year-old daughter was found sleeping at home, unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
