CUO Vice Chancellor Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi Resigns

Bhubaneswar: Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi has officially resigned from his position as the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput. His resignation has been accepted by President Droupadi Murmu, in her role as the Visitor of the university, the Union Ministry of Education confirmed in a communique sent to the Registrar of CUO today.

The Ministry stated that Prof. Tripathi’s resignation will be effective from May 1. Until a new appointment is made, the Ministry has directed the senior-most professor of CUO, Prof. Narasingha Charan Panda, to take over the responsibilities as Acting Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Tripathi was appointed as the fourth regular Vice Chancellor of the CUO in September 2022 by the President of India. His tenure was initially set for a five-year term or until he reached the age of 70, as per the norms under the Central Universities Act, 2009.

Before assuming the role at CUO, Prof. Tripathi served as a senior professor in the Department of Hindi at Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. His departure marks a significant change in the leadership of the university, which was established by the Central Government to expand access to higher education in underserved regions.

Further updates regarding the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor are awaited from the Ministry.
