Crticising Odisha’s Culture proves costly for Abhijit Iyer

Bhubaneswar,24-10-2018: Abhijit Iyer who was booked under certain provisions of law for criticizing the art and culture of Odisha and tjhereby hrting the sentiments of a large section of the public in now lodged in Jharpad Jail in Bhubaneswar.Last night he refused food.His other activities appear to be normal.

He has been arrested by the Sahid Nagar Police Station and kept in judicial custody pending haering in a court of law.He has been put up in Cell No 11.

He is expected to be taken on remand by the officials of the Konark Police Station.He has been charged under Section 294 for objectional behavior,Section295A for hurting religious sentiments,section153A for disturbing peace by stirring religious passions.The punishment for these offences can be upto  4 years of imprisonment.
