Crime Branch seizes CCTV hard disk of petrol pump in FM college row

Balasore: The Crime Branch officials are at their toes and investigating the FM college student self-immolation case at a war footing. Investigating officer Panchali Rout and other team-members of the Crime Branch have started their investigation after collecting information.

They have seized the CCTV hard disk of the petrol pump. Petrol pump managers and other staffers are being thoroughly questioned. Who has given petrol to the girl? Where did she get the petrol? Has she got it herself or someone provided it to her? The Crime Branch is investigating in all these directions.

According to information, on July 12 in the afternoon, the Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College student set herself ablaze. She allegedly poured petrol and self-immolated. As she was growling with the pain another student, Jyotiprakash tried to save her but sustained burn injuries.

She was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Balasore and then shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The Higher Education Minister, Health Minister, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi all visited AIIMS to check on her condition.

On the other hand, a high level meeting including Deputy CMs and Revenue Minister along with other ministers met and discussed about the investigating procedure. The accused Head of the Department (HoD) Sameer Sahu was suspended and then arrested. Even the Prinicpal Dillip Ghose also met with the same fate. The victim girl died on Monday late night. Doctors had said that 90- 95% of her body was burnt and she was surviving on 97% of ventilator support.

A 10-membered team of expert doctors treated the girl but she could not survive. The FM college Balasore case is now being investigated by the Crime Branch.
