Congress MLA Threatens Hunger Strike Over Accommodation
Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA Nilamadhab Hikaka from Bissam Cuttack in Rayagada district has threatened to launch a hunger strike to protest against the Odisha government’s failure to provide him with accommodation in the state capital.
Hikaka, elected six months ago, claimed that despite raising the issue with the Speaker and several ministers, the government has not provided him the allotted quarters.
The MLA stated that although an accommodation was initially assigned to him, it is currently occupied by BJD Rajya Sabha MP Munna Khan, who replaced BJD MLA Jyoti Mitra. Hikaka accused the state government of not fulfilling its promise to provide him with the designated quarters.
In response, Hikaka has announced his intention to stage a hunger strike in front of the Odisha Assembly if the issue remains unresolved.
