Congress leader Sura Routray detained

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8(Reporters Today Bureau): Congress leader Suresh Chandra Routray was on Monday detained by the police as he tried to protest near the Raj Bhawan during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Routray was picked up for defying prohibitory orders.

The Congress leader said that he is protesting on issues like price rise and unemployment.

“We will continue to protest against the NDA government for its anti-people policies. The Centre has levied more taxes under the GST regime on the people on items such as Chewra, Murhi which are used by poor people mostly.   We will continue the fight and the NDA will face fight from us during the 2024 general election.

Routray alleged that the ruling BJD in State was hand in glove with the NDA Government.

Notably, the Union Home Minister is on a two-day visit to State during which he will attend the 75th Foundation Day function of Prajatantra Prachar Samiti, visit the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Museum in Cuttack.

He is also scheduled to address party workers and leaders before returning to Delhi.
