Commissionerate Police have arrested a man for duping multiple women
Commissionerate Police arrested a 36-year-old man for duping multiple women on the pretext of marriage. He used to dupe victims on the matrimonial website by posing as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer.
The accused, identified as Satyajit Samal of Jajpur district and was staying in Chandrasekharpur area in Bhubaneswar. He was nabbed after a trap laid by Commissionerate Police. Sources said a lady officer interacted with the Samal, who used to flee to Dubai after duping women. Samal was nabbed based on the complaint filed by two victims at Capital Police station. He had duped the first victim to the tune of Rs 36 lakh and a car and Rs 8 lakh and a bullet from the second victim.
Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda today informed that the accused subsequently used to engage the vehicles on hire and used to mint money as well. “After chatting with victims on matrimonial website, the accused took cash and vehicles. After committing the crime, Satyajit used to move to Dubai and spend time there,” said Panda. During verification, it was found that Satyajit was involved in chatting with 49 more girls on the matrimonial website. Apart from this, police have seized two marriage agreement documents. “The accused used to target divorcees and used to chat with them on matrimonial website. After entering into a marriage agreement, he used to take cash and vehicles from the victims,” said Panda.
