Coastal Districts Of Odisha On High Alert Due To Cyclone Yaas

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Odisha government has asked all the department to remain alert in a view of possible cyclonic storm Yaas over the Bay of Bengal.
A meeting has been held on Friday with all the departments NDRF, Coast Guards, INS Chilika, DGP, DG Fire Services, the Chief Secretary said, “All concerned departments like power, rural and urban water supply, health, ODRF and NDRF teams have been directed to get well-prepared with manpower and materials for evacuation, rescue and restoration.”
A high alert has been issued in all the coastal and adjoining districts in Odisha said Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Friday.
Mahapatra added “The entire administration is fully prepared to face the possible natural disaster. We will decide as per the IMD prediction after things will be clearer about the path of the cyclone in the next two-three days.”
The fisherman has been asked to come back who had already ventured into the sea.
“Those have already been ventured into the sea, have been asked to come back to the shore by Saturday,” said Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena.
According to the IMD forecasted, around May 22 the low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining the north Andaman Sea and likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 24, possibly reached near Odisha and West Bengal coasts around May 26 morning.
