CM to Launch Haath Kharcha Yojana for ST Students

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will officially launch the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana on January 5, aimed at supporting Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in the state, official sources confirmed.

The scheme seeks to reduce dropout rates among ST students by providing one-time financial assistance of ₹5,000 to those pursuing Class 9 and 10 in government and aided schools across Odisha.

Importantly, students receiving benefits under other scholarship schemes will still be eligible for this incentive. As per the guidelines, the assistance will be disbursed to eligible students after completing Class 8 and Class 10, upon their enrollment into Class 9 and Class 12, respectively.

The financial aid will be provided once the students have enrolled and begun attending classes, ensuring regular participation in their education.

The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting education and improving retention rates among tribal students.
