CM stresses on Swachh Odisha Susth Odisha: Dedicates 6 septage treatment plants to people
Bhubaneswar/Puri: Emphasizing on “Swachh Odisha Sustha Odisha”, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated six Septage Treatment Plants (SeTPs) to the citizens of the State. The inaugurated six facilities are located at Bhubaneswar, Puri, Dhenkanal, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela.
The Chief Minister did this through video conferencing for the other five cities while gracing the two-day ‘National Workshop on Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM)’ being organized here in the state capital city.
In his media reactions on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Odisha is doing very well in this regard.”
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi called upon all the officials involved in the Septage Management to speed up the developmental projects and make the urban areas of the State more liveable.
The six SeTPs inaugurated today will now treat the faecal sludge and septage before disposal in the respective cities. It will now considerably reduce the levels of water pollution caused due to municipal liquid wastes and is also expected to significantly reduce the pollution in the major rivers passing through these cities, stated a press note.
These initiaveshave been jointly undertaken by Housing & Urban Development Department of Government of Odisha and the Odisha Water Supply and Sewerage Board (OWSSB).
Apart from this, the Government of Odisha has procured 86 cesspool vehicles for safe emptying transportation of faecal sludge in the urban areas.
