CM Naveen Launches ‘Sujal’ For Drinking Water Supply

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the ‘Sujal’- Drink from Tap initiative to provide 24×7 drinking water supply in urban areas. The aim of the mission is to provide quality drinking water to more than 1.5 million people in urban areas. On the occasion, Naveen dedicated 24×7 drinking water supply programme to 12 pilot areas of Bhubaneswar and Puri benefiting 1.8 lakh population.

Water supply augmentation work in 15 towns with project outlay of Rs 1300 crores benefiting 15 lakh people and water metering work in four  places (Bhubaneswar, Puri, Rourkela and Berhampur) covering 3 lakh connections and 22 lakh population were also commenced on the occasion.

Worth mentioning, 100 percent household water supply connection has been achieved in Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Digapahandi, and Kashinagar, official sources said.
