CM Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurates 6 textile parks

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to boost the state’s economy and create employment opportunities, the Odisha government launched ‘Odisha Tex 2025’, a major textile industry conference, at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Hall today. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the event, which saw the participation of over 300 industry leaders.
During the conference, the Chief Minister inaugurated six textile and apparel parks, paving the way for a major investment influx in the state. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, promising an investment of Rs 10,000 crores and generating over 25,000 employment opportunities.
The main objective of the summit is to position Odisha as a leading state in the country in textile and apparel production. The state government aims to make Odisha a textile hub, creating ample job opportunities for the local population and reducing migration to other states.
A total of 33 MoUs worth Rs 7,808 crore were signed during the event, promising to create 53,000 employment opportunities. The Chief Minister announced plans to open five more textile parks, which would further boost employment opportunities in the sector.
To promote the use of Odisha-made textiles, the Chief Minister appealed to government employees to wear Odisha clothes one day a week and buy Odisha-made clothes at least once a year.
The Chief Minister also announced an increase in incentives for employees working in the industrial sector. For female employees, the incentive has been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000, while for male employees, it has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000.
The conference also highlighted the progress made in implementing projects under the Odisha Excellence 2025 initiative. The foundation stone for 48 projects has been laid, and 58 projects are currently under construction. In the last six months, projects worth Rs 1.78 lakh crore have been initiated, promising to create over 1.11 lakh employment opportunities.
‘Odisha Tex’ will be held annually in Odisha, providing a platform for the state to showcase its textile industry potential and attract investments. With this initiative, Odisha is poised to become a major player in the textile industry, driving economic growth and employment opportunities for its people.
