CM Majhi Unveils Reprinted ‘Barnabodha’

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today unveiled the reprinted edition of the iconic Odia primer Barnabodha at an event in the capital city. The release coincided with the birth anniversary of its author, renowned Odia poet Bhaktakabi Madhusudan Rao.
Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the digital edition of Barnabodha. Speaking at the event, he said, “Madhusudan Rao was born on the day of Saraswati Puja in 1853. To honor his legacy, we are releasing the reprinted edition of Barnabodha on Saraswati Puja today.”
First published in 1895, Barnabodha has played a crucial role in teaching the Odia language. Between 1895 and 1901, at least eight editions were printed, and from 1947 to 1948, over one lakh copies were sold after being officially recognized by the Education Department.
Popularly known as Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha, the primer remains a foundational book for learning Odia. “This book has been an integral part of every Odia household. We have preserved its originality in the reprinted edition,” the Chief Minister added.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, MLA Babu Singh, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
