CM Majhi to Distribute Enhanced Paddy Subsidy

Bargarh: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will distribute the enhanced input subsidy to farmers across Odisha during a program in Bargarh district today. Farmers will now receive an additional ₹800 per quintal for paddy, raising the total amount to ₹3,100 from the previous ₹2,300 per quintal.

The subsidy hike applies retroactively, and farmers who sold paddy under the earlier rates will receive the difference directly in their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within 48 hours. The distribution covers districts such as Puri, Sambalpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Koraput, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak.

The increased subsidy aims to support farmers with the cost of seeds, equipment, and irrigation during crop production.

Meanwhile, security measures have been heightened for the Chief Minister’s visit to Bargarh. IG Himanshu Lal, SP Prahlad Sahai Meena, and a team comprising four ASPs, 12 DSPs, 37 Inspectors, 53 Sub-Inspectors, 70 ASIs, and 30 platoons of police will ensure law and order during the event.

The Kharif paddy procurement for this year began on November 20.
