CM Majhi Dismisses Doctor Karunakar Rout Over Corruption Charges

Bhubaneswar: In a strong assertion of his government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has dismissed Dr Karunakar Rout from government service.

Dr Rout was previously serving at Madhuban Health Centre in Jajpur district and later transferred to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where he worked in the mental health and cancer department.

The action comes following a vigilance case filed by the Cuttack Vigilance Department, where Dr Rout was found guilty by the Vigilance Court. Departmental proceedings had been initiated against him, including suspension and other penal actions prior to the final court verdict.

Chief Minister Majhi reiterated his policy that no corrupt official would be spared, emphasising ethical governance across all administrative sectors. The dismissal signals intensified scrutiny and accountability measures, with the Anti-Corruption wing instructed to aggressively pursue cases against officials accused of misconduct.
