CM Launches Pilgrimage Train for Seniors

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today flagged off a special pilgrimage train for senior citizens at Bhubaneswar Railway Station. The Bhubaneswar-Shirdi-Nashik special train will take elderly pilgrims to 10 prominent pilgrimage sites across the country.
A total of 800 senior citizens are availing the opportunity under the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana (BNTYY) to visit locations including Shirdi, Nashik, Kamakhya, Varanasi, Kolkata’s Dakshineswar Kali Temple, and Ayodhya.
The state government has arranged all logistics, including accommodation, travel, and meals, ensuring that senior citizens are well-supported during the journey from villages to stations and pilgrimage sites.
In total, 8,000 senior citizens will benefit from the special pilgrimage train in 10 trips scheduled for this year. Each trip will carry 800 passengers.
During the flag-off ceremony, CM Majhi emphasized that the pilgrims would be provided with guide and escort services during their travels. He added that the scheme is available to senior citizens aged 60-75 years who are enrolled under Antyodaya Anna Yojana, NFSA, and MGNREGA, and can provide relevant documents to prove their economic status or deprivation.
