CM Launches ‘Haath Kharch Yojana’ for Tribal Students

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today launched the ‘Madho Singh Haath Kharch Yojana’ aimed at providing financial assistance to tribal students across the state. The scheme was unveiled during the inauguration of the Adivasi Mela-2025 in Bhubaneswar.

Under the initiative, tribal students enrolled in Class IX and Class XI will receive Rs 5,000 annually to support their educational expenses. The scheme is expected to benefit over 2 lakh Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, with the state government allocating Rs 156 crore for its implementation.

During the event, the Chief Minister personally handed over financial assistance to five tribal students, while the remaining beneficiaries had the funds transferred directly to their bank accounts. The state government disbursed a total of Rs 80 crore to beneficiaries’ accounts as part of the scheme’s rollout.

“The Madho Singh Haath Kharch Yojana aims to reduce school dropout rates among tribal students and ensure they continue their education,” said CM Majhi.

The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for tribal communities and fostering inclusive development in the state.
