CM Launches Enhanced Pension Scheme

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today unveiled an enhanced pension scheme aimed at benefiting elderly and differently-abled citizens in the state.
Under the new scheme, individuals aged 80 years or above and those with 80% or higher disability will receive a monthly pension of ₹3,500. The initiative fulfills a key promise from the BJP’s election manifesto.
The Chief Minister launched the scheme during his visit to Keonjhar district, emphasizing its significance in ensuring dignity and financial security for vulnerable sections of society.
“This enhanced pension is a step towards ensuring dignity and financial security for our elderly and disabled population,” said CM Majhi at the event.
Criticizing the previous administration, he added, “The earlier government provided a monthly pension of just ₹1,200. We have raised it to ₹3,500, benefiting around four lakh individuals across the state.”
The move has been widely lauded as a significant step toward social welfare and inclusivity in Odisha.
