Child vomited near ‘Bhitara Katha’ of Srimandir

Puri: Mahasnana of deities was performed at the Srimandira, the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Puri of Odisha today. This unscheduled holy bath became necessary after a child vomited near the ‘Bhitara Katha’ inside the temple. Accordingly, darshan of the deities was stopped for some time.

As per reports, after completion of the ‘Abakash puja’ a child reportedly vomited near the ‘Bhitara Katha’ today. As a result, a Mahasnana or holy bath was required to make the deities and temple pure again. Accordingly, a Mahasnana of the deities were performed in the Srimandira.

According to the tradition of the temple, if any devotee, servitor or any person bleeds, vomits, or small children, old men, or people pass urine or feces, the ongoing rituals of Mahaprabhu are immediately stopped and a Mahasnana is performed for the deities.
