Champions Trophy: India Defeat Australia With Smashing 4 Wicket Win

Star batter Virat Kohli top-scored with 84 as India entered the final of the Champions Trophy with a four-wicket win over Australia in Dubai on Tuesday (March 4, 2025). Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 264 in 49.3 overs and India chased it down with 11 balls to spare. Besides Kohli’s 98-ball knock, Shreyas Iyer made 45 while K.L. Rahul and Hardik Pandya chipped in with 42 and 28 respectively in the first semifinal. Mohammed Shami (3/38) grabbed three wickets while Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets apiece.

Australia captain Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat first in the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal against India in Dubai on Tuesday (March 4, 2025).

Australia made two changes to its side while India are playing the same XI. India versus Pakistan may be one of cricket’s greatest rivalries, made more fierce by the political relationship between the two countries, but India against Australia has been one of the most intriguing and hard-fought duels in modern-day cricket.

It has whetted the appetite of fans like no other, producing titanic tussles between bat and ball, as seen most recently in the five-Test Border Gavaskar Trophy.
