Bus Carrying Migrant Odia Overturns; 1 Killed, 40 Hurt

Phulbani (Pramit Pramathes): One killed and 40 others critically injured as a bus carrying migrant workers from Gujarat overturned at Kalinga Ghat today. DIG, Southern Range, Satyabrata Bhoi said the ill-fated bus was on the way to Ganjam district with about 60 migrant workers, and the driver lost control of the vehicle at Kalinga Ghat area near Andharakota this evening.

“We have information that one migrant worker has died and another seriously injured while about 40 who have sustained minor injuries have been shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district,” Bhoi said. He said the police, fire brigade and healthcare vans sent at the spot for rescue operation.

The identity of the perished is not yet identified, and the injured workers will be shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital if their condition is found to be critical, the DIG added.
