Brown sugar worth Rs 1 lakh seized from woman peddler

In a major crackdown against illegal trade of drugs, Excise sleuths on Thursday seized over 45 grams of brown sugar of worth Rs 1lakh after conducting a raid here.

According to official sources, the Excise flying squad also arrested two peddlers including a woman in this connection and raided different places in Samantarapur and Baishnav Nagar areas near Old Town in the city.

The held peddlers have been identified as Saroj Patra and Ranju Pradhan.

Apart from the banned drug the team also seized cash worth Rs 1,09, 080 from the possession of the accused. Further interrogation of the held peddlers is underway to find out their links to a larger network.
