Brown Sugar Seized in Capital, 2 Held

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): The Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch seized more than one kg of brown sugar near Rasulgarh railway crossing here and arrested two interstate drug peddlers in this connection, yesterday.
The accused have been identified as Rakibul Laskar (30) and Sudhanya Gayen (44) of West Bengal. On the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by the STF team against illegal trade of drugs, during which the offence came to fore. During search, brown sugar weighing 1.025 kg and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from the possession of the duo.
They could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, for which the accused persons were arrested. They will be forwarded to the court of District & Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar. A case under section Section 21(c)/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the two. During preliminary investigation, West Bengal link as well as interstate ramification has been established. Efforts were on to nab others involved in the drug peddling.
