British Council signs MoUs with KIIT and KISS

Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: Over 54,000 students and faculty belonging to Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT Deemed University) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Odisha stand to benefit from a range of opportunities that will be available as the result of a partnership with the British Council following signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between the two on Sunday.

On behalf of British Council, Alan Gemmell OBE, Director British Council India and KIIT Registrar Prof. Sasmita Samanta along with CEO KISS Dr Prashant Routray signed the MoUs for KIIT and KISS respectively.

According to the agreements, both the organizations will work together on a series of initiatives which will benefit the students and faculty of both institutions, with increased opportunities for further education, research, employment and international mobility.

There will also be a focus on development of secure, inclusive and prosperous societies and women’s and girls’ empowerment through culture and sports.

They will also work on developing initiatives to improve capacity and motivation of English language teachers and faculty in the KIIT International School, Schools of Technology, School of Management and School of Medicine at KIIT.

To develop the English language proficiency of students across schools to improve workplace English language skills, employability and soft skills, including those at KIIT Polytechnic.

Also they will promote faculty mobility to provide international exposure through exchange programmes between KIIT and the UK universities.

They will strengthen institutional capacity of KISS by capacity-building programmes for faculty and senior administrators and sharing of culture, creativity and ideas and cultural co-operation between the KISS and the UK.

Founder KIIT & KISS Achyut Samant said, the MoUs will enhance the capacities of teachers, staff and students of KIIT and KISS, and help open new opportunities for them.

Alan Gemmell said the year 2018 marks 70 years of the British Council in India.

“We have been inspired by India every day of the last 70 years. This year we hope to build on the connections and impact of those 70 years and inspire millions of young people for the next 70 years,” he added.
