Bolangir Police Seize Explosives in Anti-Naxal Operation

Bolangir: In a significant breakthrough, Bolangir district police uncovered a large cache of explosives and Maoist materials during an anti-Naxal operation in the Chhataratandi forest near Turekela on Monday.

According to sources, the seized items, suspected to have been hidden by Maoist insurgents, included firearms, various types of ammunition, detonators, and other explosive materials. The discovery was made during a search operation that revealed the weaponry buried underground.

Northern Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Himanshu Lal commended the success of the operation and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to dismantling Maoist networks in the region. “Our anti-Maoist operations will continue to ensure the security and stability of the area,” he said.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in Bolangir and neighboring Bargarh districts. IGP Lal highlighted the coordinated efforts of the police teams, led by the district Superintendents of Police, to curb Maoist activities. “This is a significant success for the team. We are working with determination and team spirit to eliminate Maoist threats,” he added.

The seizure underscores the continued threat posed by Maoist groups in the region and highlights the police’s proactive measures to neutralize their operations.
