BMC Engineer in Vigilance Snare

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday carried out simultaneous raids at four locations linked to Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.
Acting on credible inputs and search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, teams led by six DSPs and ten Inspectors began early-morning searches at:

A triple-storey residential property at Plot No. RP-12, Badagada, Bhubaneswar

A farmhouse at Mouza Ranapur under Balianta Tahasil in Khordha district

Pattnaik’s parental home at Jangam Street, Gunupur (Rayagada district)

His official chamber at the BMC office in Bhubaneswar
Vigilance officials are currently scrutinizing property records, bank statements, lockers, and other financial documents. A detailed valuation of the assets is also underway.
According to sources, the operation is part of a broader investigation into wealth accumulation inconsistent with Pattnaik’s known sources of income. The raids are ongoing, and a detailed report is expected once the assessment concludes.
