BMC Additional Commissioner Assaulted; Staff Protest

Bhubaneswar : Tension prevailed at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office on Monday after Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo was allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified youths during a public grievance redressal meeting.

According to sources, six youths forcibly entered Sahoo’s chamber and attacked him without any apparent provocation. The motive behind the assault remains unknown.

Speaking to reporters, Sahoo confirmed that the attackers were not known to him. “I will be reporting the incident to higher authorities, and an FIR will be filed soon,” he said.

The assault triggered strong reactions from BMC staff, who staged a dharna inside the office premises and suspended work for the day. The protesting employees demanded strict action against the attackers and called for enhanced security measures to protect civic officials and staff.
