BJD Legislature Party to Meet Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: An important meeting of newly-elected MLAs of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will be held in Bhubaneswar on June 19. BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik will preside over the Legislature Party meeting. During this session, which is slated for 4:30 pm on Wednesday, the BJD will appoint the leader and deputy leader of the Legislature Party.
It is anticipated that the newly-elected BJD MLAs will nominate their leader, who is expected to become the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. However, there is no clear information from the party about who will be the leader of the opposition party, but speculations are rife that Patnaik may step into the role.
It is worth mentioning here that the BJD, which has been in power for decades, is taking the role of the opposition party this time. A total of 51 MLAs of BJD have won in 2024 general elections. They will take the oath of office on Tuesday. After this, the BJD MLAs will choose their leader and his deputy.
