BJD Leader Critical in Firing

Dhenkanal: A BJD leader sustained critical injuries in a firing at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district, last night.

The victim, identified as Kanhu Charan Sahu, was rescued and rushed to the Kamakhyanagar Hospital. He was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

According to reports, as many as three bike-borne miscreants intercepted Sahu while he was travelling in a car at around 10.30 pm. They shattered the windshield of the vehicle and fired two rounds of bullets at him. The attackers fled the spot after the incident. Sahu sustained critical bullet injuries on his hand and thigh.

On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated investigation. Cops were examining CCTV footage to identify the miscreants. The reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained.
