BJD demonstrations at all CPSUs in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The BJD will hold demonstrations at all Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSUs) offices across the State on November 5, 6 and 8. BJD general secretary Sanjay Dasburma, BYJD president Ameresh Patri and BCJD president Ranapratap Patra informed this at a Press meet held here on Saturday.

The ruling party took this decision a day after the BJP announced to lock all Employment Exchanges in all districts on November 5 to protest unemployment problem in the State.

“As promised before the 2014 elections, the Narendra Modi Government would have given jobs to 10 crore youths in the country during the last five years. But the BJP Government has completely failed in fulfilling the promise and, betrayed the youth community,” alleged Dasburma.

He further alleged that employment sector has been severely hit in the country due to demonetization. As many as 1.27 crore jobs have been lost. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has stated that 35 lakh vacancies are yet to be filled up. Besides, daily works of 1.5 crore laborers have been lost due to demonetization, Dasburma said.

The Centre has not created any industrial corridor in Odisha during the last four and a half years, he alleged.

While CPSUs have taken away corers of rupees as profit from Odisha, they have not provided employments to youths. He gave examples of the Nalco, HPCL and Paradip IOCL refinery projects while making these allegations.

BYJD and BCJD activists would stage peaceful demonstration at all PSUs in the Southern RDC zone on November 5, Western Southern Zone on November 6 and Central RDC zone on November 8. BJD spokesperson Dr Sasmit Patra was present.
