Bird Flu Scare in Puri’s Krushnaprasad Block

Puri: A bird flu scare has spread across several areas of Krushnaprasad block in Odisha’s Puri district after thousands of chickens were found dead in local poultry farms, sources reported.

Over the past four days, chickens have been dying mysteriously, either while eating or walking inside the farms. However, a mass death of chickens was reported early this morning, intensifying concerns among locals.

Adding to the fear, several crows were also found dead in the area. Although officials have not yet confirmed the presence of bird flu, residents are alarmed by the possibility of a viral outbreak.

Local veterinarians have collected samples from the dead chickens for laboratory testing to check for the H5N1 virus. Efforts are also underway to safely bury the deceased birds to prevent further risk.

Meanwhile, poultry farmers in the area are facing significant financial losses. Many claim they had taken loans to invest in their farms and are now left without resources to repay the debt.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and precautionary measures are being advised to prevent further spread.
