Bikers Attacked by Robbers on Nayagarh Highway, One Injured

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident that has sparked panic among locals, a group of eight armed robbers launched a violent attack on a group of bikers on the Dashapalla-Bhanjanagar Highway in Odisha’s Nayagarh district early Monday morning.

The incident took place around 4 a.m. near Sakeni village under the jurisdiction of Dasapalla police station. According to sources, the victims — including one Jatia Behera from Khandapada village — were en route to Bhanjanagar on a motorcycle when a Scorpio vehicle carrying the miscreants intercepted them.

The robbers allegedly demanded money from the bikers. When the victims resisted, the situation turned violent. While two of the riders managed to escape, Jatia Behera was caught and brutally assaulted with fists and blades. The assailants then set the motorcycle on fire before fleeing the scene.

Behera, who sustained serious injuries, was rescued by locals and rushed to the Dasapalla Community Health Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Dasapalla police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.

The incident has triggered widespread concern in the region, with residents calling for heightened security along the highway to prevent such brazen attacks in the future.
