Bhubaneswar Railway Station Set for Major Revamp Under Amrit Bharat Yojana

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Railway Station is set for a major revamp under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, with a focus on modern infrastructure, enhanced commuter facilities, and improved traffic flow.

As part of this transformative project, the station will feature an elevated roadway flyover, offering a futuristic entry and exit point for passengers. Commuters will enter the station at the upper level and exit at the lower level, a design aimed at streamlining movement and reducing congestion in the station area.

To ensure smooth execution, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is working in close collaboration with Indian Railways. The BDA is also facilitating land acquisition for the elevated flyover, which will connect Master Canteen Chhak directly to the station, easing access for daily commuters.

The project also includes plans for dedicated parking facilities within the station complex, improving accessibility and reducing roadside parking issues. A key feature of the revamp is the introduction of an air-concourse system, which will link all six platforms, eliminating the need for traditional foot overbridges and enabling seamless passenger movement.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, the redevelopment will enhance passenger amenities, including lifts, escalators, baggage screening systems, well-equipped waiting halls, information centres, and improved security arrangements. A food plaza and retail stalls are also planned to elevate the overall travel experience.

With the target completion date set for August next year, the engineering and planning teams remain optimistic about delivering a state-of-the-art railway station that aligns with the national vision of modern and efficient transport hubs.

This large-scale initiative is expected to significantly boost the station’s capacity and commuter convenience, reinforcing Bhubaneswar’s position as a key junction in India’s railway network.
