Bhubaneswar: 11 arrested for attacking & firing bar bouncer

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has reportedly arrested as many as 11 persons for attacking and firing at a bar bouncer in Chandrashekharpur area of the State Capital City, Bhubaneswar.

One Surjyakanta Pradhan, who lives in Salia Sahi and works as a bouncer at Cosmos Bar in Chandrasekharpur, had lodged a complaint at Chandrashekharpur Police alleging that he was attacked by a group of miscreants.

Pradhan had claimed that between 1.30 AM and 2 AM on May 9 he requested some people to leave the bar as it was time to close the business establishment. However, they did not want to leave the bar and fought with him under influence of alcohol intoxication.

Later, they also threw stones on the Bar, due to which, some glasses were broken. While some of them went to call others, some others waited for Pradhan to come outside the bar so that they would assault him.

At around 4 AM, when the complainant left the Bar, he was obstructed, assaulted, attacked and fired at by the culprits due to which he sustained injuries. Currently, he is undergoing treatment at KIIMS hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.

Based on his complaint, police registered Chandrashekharpur PS Case No-232 dated10.05.2025 u/s- 126(2)/109(1)/3(5) BNS, 25/27 Arms Act and started an investigation by immediately forming multiple teams to apprehend the culprits involved in the case.

As part of probe, Police conducted raids in Puri, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttuck and Khurda and arrested a total of 11 persons so far. Efforts are being taken to apprehend rest of the culprits involved in the case.

The 11 arrested persons have been identified as Badal Swain of Puri, Chinmay Kumar Dey of Jajpur, Sahil Das of Dhenkanal, Omkar Patra of Cuttack, Ranjit Kumar Sahoo of Cuttack, Alok Kumar Sahoo of Cuttack, Achyutananda Lenka of Kendrapada, Jagrat Panda of Jajapur, Babru Pradhan of Puri, Asit Patra of Khurda and Rajesh Nayak Khurda.

Police also seized two live ammunitions, three used ammunition and two motor cycles.
