Bay of Bengal Low Pressure to Intensify: IMD
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours.
According to the IMD, the well-marked low-pressure system over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal has moved northwards and currently lies over the west-central and southwest Bay of Bengal. “The system is expected to strengthen into a depression and move north-northeastwards while maintaining its intensity for the next 24 hours,” the IMD stated in its bulletin issued on Thursday mor
Under the influence of this system, several districts in Odisha are likely to experience rainfall today. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are predicted in parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Coastal districts of the state are also expected to receive rainfall.
