Battle On: Pravat Biswal Vs CMC Commissioner

Cuttack (Surjit Kumar Dhal): Tension imploded in the Balisahi area of Nuapada in Silver City after slums evictees were blown away by the thunderstorm today.

According to sources, several persons who were living in these slums were injured when this eviction process was on. Slumdwellers evicted from the Ranihat area for SCB road expansion work were housed in these tents by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.

Tension increased in the area when these irate slum dwellers ransacked vehicles belonging to the police and CMC. They also pelted stones at the officials. Normalcy returned in the area after ten platoons of cops were rushed to the spot to maintain law and order.

The Choudwar-uttack MLA Souvic Biswal and Ex-MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal met the DM and complained about the incident. They walked about 10 kilometers to meet the CMC Commissioner but failed. The CMC Commissioner didn’t reach the meeting spot. Pravat Biswal stated that, how an inexperienced bureaucrat took such harsh action without consulting the local people’s representatives?  Pravat Biswal and MLA Souvic Biswal expressed their anger and anguish on Ananya Das (CMC Commissioner) over this anti-public activity. In between this tension Souvic Biswal and Pravat Biswal reached at the disgruntled people and tried to pacify them.
