Basudevpur Block JE in Vigilance Snare

Bhadrak: The Junior Engineer (JE) of Basudevpur Block in Bhadrak district of Odisha Ashok Kumar Das was nabbed by Odisha Vigilance on Saturday while taking bribe of Rs 10 thousand. He was allegedly taking the bribe for clearing running account bill of a contractor.

As per reports, today, a short while ago, Ashok Kumar Das, Jr.Engineer (JE), Basudevpur Block, Dist. Bhadrak has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs.10,000 from a contractor to facilitate release of bills for works executed by him.

Accused Das refused to release the bill amount unless he was paid the demanded bribe.  The entire bribe money of Rs. 10,000 has been recovered from the possession of accused Das, JE and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at four locations of Das on DA angle.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No 4/2025, U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act , 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Das, JE. Detailed report follows.

In another trap, the executive officer of Khandapada in Nayagarh district was also arrested by Odisha Vigilance today for taking bribe of Rs 20 thousand from a contractor to release his pending bills.
