Bari Eateries Shut for Two Weeks Amid Cholera Outbreak

Bhubaneswar: In a decisive move to control the Cholera and Diarrhoea outbreak in the Bari area of Jajpur district, the local administration has ordered the closure of all eateries, including hotels, roadside dhabas, restaurants, fast food carts, and fish and chicken shops, for a period of two weeks.
A notice issued by the Bari Tehsil office warned of strict action and penalties for non-compliance. The directive comes in the wake of a major health crisis that has reportedly affected over 700 people and claimed the lives of at least 13 individuals in the past few days.
To combat the outbreak, the State Government has dispatched emergency medical teams, adequate stocks of medicines, and essential supplies to the affected region.
Considering the severity of the situation, the tehsil administration has taken stringent measures to curb the further spread of infection. Officials said the temporary closure of food outlets is aimed at eliminating potential sources of contamination.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has also taken note of the situation and is closely monitoring the developments. State health authorities are working on a war footing to contain the outbreak and restore normalcy in the region.
