Bargarh Attack Sparked by Altercation: SP

Bargarh: A young woman, found critically injured in Kurla forest on January 14, was the victim of a violent attack triggered by an altercation, according to Bargarh Superintendent of Police Prahlad Sahai Meena.
The SP stated during a press briefing that the incident occurred due to a verbal argument between the victim and the main accused, Rakesh Dansena, which escalated into a sudden provocation. The accused reportedly attacked the girl with a stone.
The victim, who had gone to watch the Dhanu Yatra festival on January 12, did not return home and was rescued from the forest two days later. She is currently undergoing treatment at Burla Medical College and Hospital in Sambalpur and is slowly recovering.
Police arrested Dansena from Titilagarh while he was attempting to flee the state. Four other individuals have also been arrested in connection with the case. Investigators have seized three mobile phones, the stone used in the attack, and blood-stained shirts.
Rumors of a three-year relationship between the victim and the accused have surfaced, but the SP declined to confirm this, citing the ongoing investigation. The police have ruled out rape based on medical reports.
The investigation continues, with efforts underway to gather more evidence and record the victim’s statement.
