Bandh in Burla to protest action against VIMSAR Director

Burla, Dec 10: Normal life was hit in Burla town of Sambalpur district on Monday due to a 12-hour bandh by the Burla Sachetana Nagarika Manch protesting the State Government’s action against Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) Director Dr Aswini Kumar Pujahari.

Pujahari was on Saturday asked to proceed on leave by State Health Secretary pending probe into his alleged unethical clinical practices.

The Manch has demanded re-appointment of Pujahari as the Director of VIMSAR. Policemen have been deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh.

Notably, Pujahari was also served a show-cause notice to which the Director said would reply within three days.

The Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) of the VIMSAR had staged cease work stir and filed a police complaint lodged against Pujahari for allegedly conducting experimental surgeries on poor and destitute patients using salt as hypertonic saline.
