Bandh hits life in Mayurbhanj district

BARIPADA, DEC 19: A 12-hour Mayurbhanj district bandh called by the BJP affected normal life as party activists blocked roads and picketed in front of government offices today, police said.

The BJP called the bandh to protest “apathy” of the Odisha government in health and education sectors in the district. The party claimed that the state government transferred 46 doctors from various government hospitals in Mayurbhanj district while 220 doctors’ posts are lying vacant.

Vehicles remained off the road, shops and commercial establishments downed their shutter, educational institutes, banks and post offices were closed during the bandh, they said.
