Balasore Police Arrests Dowry Case Accused, Rescues Minor After CM’s Intervention

Balasore: In a significant breakthrough, Balasore Police successfully rescued a minor child and arrested Kamalakanta Mishra, accused in a dowry torture case, following a directive from the Chief Minister’s grievance redressal platform, Jana Sunani.

The action was taken after the petitioner’s father, seeking justice for his daughter Seema Satpathy, approached the Chief Minister with his grievances. The case was subsequently forwarded to the DIG of Eastern Range, Balasore, who directed the Superintendent of Police to ensure a thorough investigation and deliver justice.

Acting on the directive, the IHATU team of Balasore Police executed a Non-Bailable Warrant against Mishra and rescued the minor child from his custody in New Delhi. The child had been unlawfully withheld from Seema despite a court order granting her custody.

A dedicated police team led by SI Lokanath Soren, ASI Dhaneswar Nanda, and constable Bikash Kumar Mohapatra played role in tracking and apprehending the accused, who had been absconding for several years.

The case stems from a 2016 dowry torture complaint (Case No. 15/2016) filed by Seema Satpathy at Khantapada Police Station.

The operation underscores the commitment of Balasore Police to uphold justice and safeguard the rights of women and children, reaffirming their dedication to civil liberties and effective law enforcement.
