Baishnab Charan Samal Wins 2024 Sahitya Akademi Award

New Delhi: Renowned Odia litterateur Baishnab Charan Samal has been selected for the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 for his literary work Bhuti Bhakti Bibhuti in the Essays category.

The Kendriya Sahitya Akademi announced the awards in 21 languages on Wednesday. This year’s honors include eight books of poetry, three novels, two short story collections, three essays, two works of literary criticism, one play, and one research work.

Samal will receive an engraved copper plaque, a shawl, and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh at a ceremony scheduled for March 8, 2025, at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.

In the Santali language category, Maheswar Soren will be awarded for his play Seched Sawnta Ren Andha Manmi.
